Question
Given below are two statements: one is labelled as Assertion (A) and the other is labelled as Reason (R). Assertion (A) : Sucrose is a disaccharide and a non-reducing sugar. Reason (R) : Sucrose involves glycosidic linkage between C1 of -glucose and C2 of -fructose. Choose the most appropriate answer from the options given below: (A) (A) is true but (R) is false. (B) Both (A) and (R) are true but (R) is not the true explanation of (A). (C) (A) is false but (R) is true. (D) Both (A) and (R) are true and (R) is the true explanation of (A). uhps nks dFku fn, gSaA ,d dk uke vfHkdFku (A) rFkk nwljs dk dkj.k (R) gSA. vfHkdFku (A) : lqØkst ,d MkblSdSjkbM ,oa vuvip;h 'kdZjk gSA dkj.k (R) : lqØkst esa Xywdkst ds C1 ,oa ÝDVkst ds C2 ds e/; XykbdkslkbMh ca/k ik;k tkrk gSA uhps fn, fodYiksa esa ls lokZf/kd mi;qDr mÙkj pqusa % (1) (A) lgh gS ijUrq (R) lgh ugha gSA (2) nksuksa (A) rFkk (R) lgh gSa rFkk (A) dh lgh O;k[;k (R) ugha gSA (3) (A) vlR; gS ijUrq (R) lgh gSA (4) nksuksa (A) rFkk (R) lgh gSa rFkk (A) dh lgh O;k[;k (R) gSA
💡 Solution & Explanation
In sucrose two monosaccharides are joined together by an oxide linkage formed by loss of water molecule. Such linkage through oxygen atom is called glycosidic linkage. In sucrose linkage in between C1 of -glucose and C2 of -fructose. Since the reducing group of glucose & fructose are involved in glycosidic bond formation, sucrose is non reducing sugar. C1 C2 –D-glucose + –D-fructose -D-Glucose -D-Fructose. | JEE MAIN-2021 | DATE : 26-08-2021 (SHIFT-2) | PAPER-1 | OFFICIAL PAPER | CHEMISTRY PAGE # 3
