Oxygen family is also called as chalcogens because most of the ores of copper (Chalkos in greek) are oxides or sulfides. The Oxygen family includes oxygen (O), sulfur (S), selenium (Se), tellurium (Te), polonium (Po), and livermorium (Lv). Therefore, sodium (Na) is not a chalcogen.
