The basic strength of given hydrides decreases I the order as follows: NH3 > PH3 . AsH3 > SbH3 > BiH3 This is due to the decrease in the availability of the lone pair of electrons which depends on the size of central atom that increase from N to Bi. Therefore, NH3 and BiH3 acts as a strong and weak base hydride respectively.
