Which one of the following is non-reducing? (J&K CET 2009)

A.H2S
B.H2Te
C.H2Se
D.H2O✓ Correct
Explanation

All hydrides (except of H2O) act as reducing agents. The reducing nature increases as the atomic number of the central atom increases. This is due to weakening of M––H bonds as the bond length increases with increase in size of M atom.
