Initially, all the attack is from the backside in N S 1 as leaving group is very close to carbocation and repels the nucleophile on the front side. So, in 1 N S reaction there is the formation of two products, and the major product is the in which the new nucleophile is in the opposite direction of the leaving group which is formed by inversion of configuration.
