Aldehydes can be dissolved in water to make an aqueous solution. One such important solution is formalin which is the aqueous solution of formaldehyde, specifically 40% aqueous solution of formaldehyde. Or we can say that in 100 ml of solution 40 ml is formaldehyde and 60 ml is water.
