C.Na₃AlF₆ and is used in the electrolytic
D.Na₃AlF₆ and is used in the electrolysis of
Explanation

Cryolite is a sodium-aluminium-fluorine mineral. Its chemical formula is. 3 6 Na AlF In the Bayer’s process, aluminium oxide is obtained which has a very high melting point of around 2045 degree Celsius. To lower the melting point, a METALLURGY 40 synthetic cryolite, 3 6 Na AlF is used as a solvent. It reduces the melting point to around 970 degree Celsius and makes the electrolysis easier. Therefore, the correct answer is option (b) 3 6 Na AlF and is used in the electrolysis of alumina for lowering the melting point of alumina.
