Assertion: Anhydrous BaO₂ (barium peroxide) is used for preparing H₂O₂. Reason: Hydrated BaO₂ is not available.

A.A
B.B
C.C
D.D✓ Correct
Explanation

H₂O₂ is prepared by the action of dil. H₂SO₄ with hydrated barium peroxide (BaO₂.8H₂O). Anhydrous BaO₂ is not used because its reaction is slow and ceases after some time due to formation of protective layer of precipitated BaSO₄ on it, which in case of solution of BaO₂.8H₂O is filtered off frequently.
